About Air Jordan True Flight
Next January, Jordan Brand is slated to introduce us to the Air Jordan True Flight. It is basically an updated version of the Air Jordan 7 (VII). Yet don't confuse updated with better. It features a flatter sole with herringbone traction and Zoom Air insoles for added cushioning. The colorway featured here sports a black upper with red accents including plenty of contrast stitching. A bit of white and grey can also be seen on the shoe. They are scheduled to release on January 17, 2009 and retail for $140.
The summer-time news-wire doesn't appear to be slowing down, because the last seven days on Sneaker News were a monster! Starting off with Air Jordan news, we brought you a look at upcoming Spring 2012 releases, which included new Air Jordan X releases and the Air Jordan IV White/Cement. We also brought you a look at a Black colorway of the Air Jordan V Quai 54 and the Jordan Team ISO 2, as well as some OGs and samples, like the Air Jordan IX Penny Hardaway. Staying on the BBall topic, Nike Basketball officially unveiled the 2011 installments of the Hyperdunk and Hyperfuse, selected Blake Griffin and Rajon Rondo as its representatives. We also served up a detailed look at the Kobe VI 'Lower Merion Aces', a new colorway of Derrick Rose's adiZero Rose 2.0, and the upcoming Nike Zoom Rookie - a multi-Air Penny hybrid shoe.
Nike SB, always a huge topic on Sneaker News, made some noise as well, as we got a look at July 2011 Footwear Releases, which includes the 'Red Devil' SB Dunk High. Another piece of SB buzz was the unreleased Dr. Feelgood sample, purchased by celeb sneakerhead Andy Milonakis. On a similar note, this week's Celebrity Feet features included Jay-Z in his favorite Jordans, Big Sean, Wiz Khalifa, and a number of NBA Draft prospects. Moving on to custom sneakers, a booming sub-category on Sneaker News, Mizzeecustoms and Dank showed off their latest works, which created a ton of buzz and debate in our comments. Sneaker Con NYC wrapped up this past weekend, to which we followed with a great recap of the event and of the 'Feet'. And finally, Sneaker News continued with the Weekly Buyer's Guide, giving you a complete look at the hottest releases of the past week. There's much more ahead so get caught up on the world of sneakers with this latest chapter of Sneaker News Weekly Rewind!
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have retro Air Jordans updated to perform to today's standards? What if your favorite Jordan shoe that came out in 1992 could perform on the court as though it was designed with the pallet of today's technology? Michael Jordan was the greatest that ever lived, but performance wise, many of his shoes have been out shined by the advancing technology that comes year after year.
Jordan Brand will be doing just that coming in January of next year with the introduction of the Air Jordan True Flight. This shoe clearly looks much like the Air Jordan 7 but is updated wish a flatter sole with herringbone traction for a better grip and Zoom Air for
higher performance cushioning.
The concept of a retro Jordan with the performance of today's has been a hope of mine for quite a few years. While the thought and concept of the Air Force 25 was solid, the marketing and execution wasn't what I hoped to see. I applaud Jordan Brand for taking on this task while maintaining the integrity of the design of the shoe and keeping the upgrades in performance most noticeable to those putting the shoes to the test on the court. Many thanks to Opium Barcelona for giving us a preview of the
Air Jordan True Flight.
